Chinook was developed by the USDA breeding program in Washington State and released in 1985 as a high alpha variety. This cultivar takes its name from a Native American tribe indigenous to the region around Washington. The variety grows vigorously in all areas and is a cross of Petham Golding and USDA select male.

Hop pellets are destalked ground hops pressed into little pellets. Use about 10% less than you would when using leaf hops with a similar alpha level. Hop pellets can be preserved longer and are usually available for a longer period of time during the course of the season.
