Perle was bred at the Hop Research Institute in Hüll, Germany and released in 1978. Perle is generally perceived as an excellent aroma hop with characteristics as good as those of Hallertau Mittlefruh but with a higher Alpha Acid content and better storage characteristics. Alpha Acid Range 6-9%. These choicest hop pellets have been packed to preserve their freshness and quality. Hop pellets are destalked ground hops pressed into little pellets. Use about 10% less than you would when using leaf hops with a similar alpha level. Hop pellets can be preserved longer and are usually available for a longer period of time during the course of the season.
